2019 Biennial Conference

Building the Global Nonprofit Education Community:
Diverse Perspectives Strengthening the Whole

Cass Business School | part of City, University of London

July 16—17, 2019

Overview

In the spirit for which NACC was founded, the 2019 Biennial Conference in London will focus on enhancing and strengthening the exciting growth that is occurring in our field.

In addition to the optics of holding a NACC event in a setting outside the U.S., demonstrating the NACC network as global and open to innovative ideas from all the nations and facets of civil society institutions, the event will produce quality discussions, exchange of knowledge and experience, and an edited book volume on the proceedings presenting the best thinking drawn from the convening themes. The edited volume will include issues related to transnational approaches to the field of nonprofit sector research and pedagogy.

Registration

Conference registrations must be completed by Friday, June 28. For security purposes and due to limited seating, Receptions and Philanthropy Walks required separate registration by May 17 as a final guest list must be provided to our reception sites eight weeks in advance of the conference. Only pre-registered guests will be permitted entrance at the Reception(s). Photo IDs for all (non-minor children) reception attendees must be presented upon arrival. All minor children under age 14 must be supervised at all times.

Conference Program & Themes

>>View the Conference Program here

This is the first time the conference will be held outside the USA, which NACC hopes will provide a significant opportunity for reflection and discussion regarding the diversity of perspectives and approaches to nonprofit/NGO education. Recognising the international growth of nonprofit/NGO programmes, the conference has five themes:

  1. Curricular innovation, challenges and variance in nonprofit education within civil society;
  2. Emerging research – new directions and unexpected new approaches – an opportunity for scholars early in their careers and those pushing the boundaries to showcase their work;
  3. Extracurricular innovation – e.g.- teaching outside the classroom;
  4. Institutional structure and advocacy – e.g. – resilience of nonprofit education programmes;
  5. Knowledge transfer and cooperation across universities, countries, and practitioner communities.

As with previous NACC conferences, the best papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership. In addition, there is also a planned book on global nonprofit education; conference papers will be considered for chapter inclusion.
